On our Three-Days’ Active Tour of St. Petersburg explore the Hermitage (Main Complex & General Staff, Impressionists & Post-Impressionists), Peter & Paul Fortress, St. Isaac's Cathedral, the Church of Our Savior on Spilled Blood, the Russian Museum, Peterhof Parks, the Catherine Palace, the Faberge Museum.
The active three-days’ tour is conducted with a private car, guided by an expert guide. The guide will share with you everything majestic St. Petersburg has to offer. Stroll down the noisy and colorful Nevsky Prospect, explore onion-domed cathedrals with variegated mosaics, learn about the Orthodox icons and Soviet avant-guard in the Russian Museum, and listen to the stories of the tsars in Peterhof and Pushkin palaces and grounds. Top up your experience with a meditative boat ride and learn the history of astonishing Faberge Eggs collection at the Faberge museum.
Meet your guide at the hotel reception, and together take a private car through St. Petersburg city center. As we travel, our guide will introduce the story of St. Petersburg foundation - its origin and how it developed to become ”the Venice of the North “. On arrival to the Peter and Paul Fortress, we’ll start to map this story onto the fortress streets that we walk, tracing a path through the burial vaults of the Romanov Family. We’ll continue the discovery of the Romanovs history in the Church of Our Savior on the Spilled Blood and in St. Isaac’s Cathedral.
Our journey will continue on a boat ride of St. Petersburg canals and rivers.
On the second day of the tour we’ll head to Peterhof Parks, wander around the most beautiful fountains in the world and take pictures of the Samson fountain along with the Grand Cascade.
Visit the world-famous Amber Room in the Catherine Palace and avoid the crowds on a separate entrance admission.
On the third day you will visit the Hermitage with an art historian guide. The Hermitage is the home to a world-renowned collection of paintings by the Renaissance artists. We will weave through the galleries with our guide, pausing to study and discuss famous works by Rembrandt and Leonardo Da Vinci, as well as lesser-known treasures. The Benois Madonna will provide the climax to our visit, and we will take time to appreciate the artist’s mastery, and learn about the painting’s pathway to its current home.
If time allows, we may also explore the Impressionists Collection in the General Staff Building.
At the end of our third day together we shall take a tour to the Faberge Museum and stroll along the Nevsky Prospekt to visit the Kazan Cathedral.

We found Tailored Tours of St. Petersburg through our Rick Steve's tour book. We needed three days for two couples coming from a cruise ship. They promptly responded to our inquiries. Our guide Sergei and his driver Alexander were great, always on time and knew all the ins and outs. We were picked up in a very comfortable private tour van all by ourselves. Sergei was pleasant, professional and very knowledgeable. We went to all the palaces, we visited The Hermitage and the Russian Museum. We went to three beautiful churches, the Faberge Museum and had a lovely tour by boat around the canals of St. Petersburg. We were taken to local restaurants and were able to experience local fare which was delicious! Overall our trip was wonderful enhanced so much by Sergei who made sure that all our needs were met. Would definitely recommend Tailored Tours and Sergei any time! They made St. Petersburg easy and magical!
