Three-Day Basic Tour of St. Petersburg

Three-Days’ Basic Tour of St. Petersburg Highlights is conducted with a private car, guided by a professional guide. The guide will share with you the majestic experience of St. Petersburg attractions. Stroll down the noisy and colorful Nevsky Prospect, explore the onion-domed Church of Our Savior on the Spilled Blood with its mosaics, learn about the Orthodox icons and Soviet avant-guard in the Russian Museum. Listen to the stories of Russian tsars in Peterhof and Catherine palaces and grounds. Top up your experience with a comprehensive tour of the Hermitage Museum.

Meet your guide at the hotel reception and together take a private car through St. Petersburg city center. On arrival to the Peter and Paul Fortress, we’ll start to map our tour, tracing a path through the burial vaults of the Romanov Family. We’ll continue the discovery of the Romanovs history in St. Isaac’s Cathedral. Visit the Hermitage with an art historian guide after. The Hermitage is the home to a world-renowned collection of paintings by the Renaissanceartists. We will weave through the galleries, pausing to study and discuss famous works by Rembrandt and Leonardo Da Vinci, as well as lesser-known treasures. The Benois Madonna will provide the climax to our visit, and we will take time to appreciate the artist’s mastery, and learn about the painting’s pathway to its current home.

On the second day of the tour will head to the Peterhof Parks, wander around the most beautiful fountains in the world and take pictures of the Samson fountain along with the Grand Cascade, and visit the world-famous Amber Room in the Catherine Palace avoiding the crowds on a separate entrance admission.

On the third day we will focus on the main trends and styles of the Russian art from the Icons to the 20th c. avant-guard and Soviet Realism in the Russian Museum.We will dwell on the main trends and styles of visual art in Russia: focus on the most important images and symbols of the icons, explain the origin of the main features of the 18-19th c. art, such as academic art, the “Wanderers”, realism and landscape school, religious and historic genres.

At the end of our Three-Days’ Basic Excursion of St. Petersburg Highlights together, we shall take a tour of the Church of Our Savior on the Spilled Blood and stroll along the Nevsky Prospekt to visit the Kazan Cathedral.
