Dostoevsky Memorial Museum

When in St. Petersburg, Dostoevsky never had an apartment of his own, renting apartments sometimes for quite a short time. The museum occupies the apartment where Dostoevsky lived from 1878 till his death in 1881.There, he finished his “Karamazov Brothers” and worked on the “Writer’s Diary”. You will see the reconstruction of the writer’s family home which was done in the1970s based on the memories of his wife and ancestors. It contains original belongings of the writer. A large part of the exhibition is devoted to the uneasy life of the great writer, his literary activity, and his world outlook.

A visit to the museum can be included in the “St. Petersburg of Dostoevsky” special tour.
