Two-Day Active Shore Tour
In this Two-days’ Active Shore Tour of St. Petersburg , we will join a historian to see the magnificent palaces and parks of St Petersburg. As we walk with an expert in history or art history, we’ll contextualize the architectural and historical significance of Peterhof Fountain Parks, The Catherine Palace, Peter and Paul Fortress, the Church of Our Savior on the Spilled Blood, The Hermitage, St.Isaac's Cathedral, The Yusupov palace.
Meeting at the cruise port, we’ll begin our tour with the Peter and Paul Fortress and Cathedral visit to see the burial vault of the Romanov family. After a comprehensive tour inside we’ll head to the Peterhof Park and visit the royal fountain gardens. You will stroll along the carefully manicured hedges, reflecting pools, and artfully carved open-air statues. Proceed inside the maze of fountain paradise and see the Grand Cascade and the Samson Fountain.
The second day starts with a Venice of the North river and canal boat tour. See the bridges and take pictures of the palaces from water. After the boat ride we will take a comprehensive tour of the Hermitage Museum and wonder the beauty of Renaissance artists including Leonardo Da Vinci and Raphael. We’ll arrange a skip-the-line admission to the museum so you could attend it stress-free.
The Church of our Savior on the Spilled Blood and St. Isaac’s Cathedral are visited with a tour inside as well. Learn more about the Russian Orthodox history and its architectural context. Ending the tour we’ll visit the Yusupov Palace and the theatre inside. Apart from seeing lavishly decorated churches and the Hermitage, you will get into the cellars of the Yusupov palace, where Rasputin had been poisoned shortly before the Revolution.

Great tours for wide age range Tailored Tours and tour guides are the best and I highly recommend them to anyone going to St. Petersburg. Kate knew the answer to every question we asked. We got a terrific education and she kept us on track. With Kate's expertise we saw and enjoyed so much more of Catharine's Palace and the Hermitage, than would have been possible without her. She was patient with our group that ranged in age from 6-83. We also loved the canal tour with Vladimir. He was so pleasant and friendly we ended up sharing a snack together.

We were on a 2 day layover on a cruise and they took care of us both days. Our guide Nikita was friendly and very knowledgable, with credentials in history and of course certification as a professional guide. We weren't just well guided but came to feel like a new friend was showing us his hometown. He was very knowledgable about the art and architecture at the various sights but also had a wealth of additional and interesting information in response to our questions.We had minimal waiting time at the various attractions and were able to customize our day ahead of time and as we went along. A car and thoroughly professional driver were provided for us.
